🌍 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) “Every time we ignore disaster risk in planning roads, schools or farms, we pay a higher cost in suffering — let’s shift from reacting to preventing.”

⚡ Alinafe Kasinja, Energy Officer, expressed concern over Malawi’s low electricity access rate of 26%, especially in rural areas. He said government aims to reach 70% access by 2030 through mini-grids and international power interconnections.

Titus Linzie, Co-chairperson of the Multistakeholder Platform on Access to Clean Energy, voiced concern over the limited access to electricity in Malawi. He called for better coordination among stakeholders to support government reforms. ⚡🇲🇼

On behalf of the CISONECC N.C, Chimwemwe Kapichi, MEAL Manager, emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among stakeholders in Malawi’s energy sector to promote access to clean energy. He noted that while reforms are ongoing, limited coordination slows progress.
