If we expand coverage of existing vaccines (e.g. #pneumococcus, #typhoid, #rotavirus, #RSV) and invest in new ones (like for K. pneumoniae), we can save lives and reduce the global #AMR burden. Prevention is power. #ESPID2025 #ESPIDInspires @ESPIDsociety

Vaccines are powerful tools to fight AMR. In S Africa, PCV10 and PVC13 led to an 82% drop in drug-resistant pneumococcal disease. Rotavirus vaccine coverage in LMICs could prevent 18.3 million antibiotic-treated diarrhoea cases - just by stopping unnecessary antibiotic use. +

2030 targets: - 10% drop in AMR mortality - 20% less inappropriate human antibiotic use - 30% cut in animal antibiotic use We need bold global action to meet these goals. #AMR2030 #ESPID2025 @gardp_amr @WHO +
