‘While some will claim this as a historic day, the litmus test will be addressing the root causes of this conflict. Returning to the old status quo will doom Palestinians & Israelis to more tragedy.’ - William Bell. A sustainable peace is more than the absence of violence.

We welcome the news Israel & Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza. It offers the people in Gaza respite from the relentless bombardment, displacement & deprivation. This is good news for the hostages while also recognising the massive scale of aid that is now needed in Gaza.

@MazzucatoM @smitf_london @WattPatrick As @MazzucatoM closes, she shares: the ‘how’ matters as much as the ‘what’. The crises we face can only be tackled through collective action — growth is not the mission, but must be redefined to serve people, participation and the common good. #CALecture25

@MazzucatoM @smitf_london @WattPatrick To truly serve the common good, we must move beyond the “band-aid mindset”- starting with the problem, shaping solutions with intention and designing economies that improve human health & wellbeing ‘The common good is not a correction but an objective’ @mazzucatoM

We can strive for an equal world if we confront the global inequalities driving poverty and recognise how racial and gender injustices are at the center of it all. We need to continue to commit to decolonisation and seek to dismantle the system that perpetuates oppression.
