Hey everyone! I just launched my new publication: The Windows Readme: I want to recapture the energy of the early tech blogs -- no ads, no clickbait, no SEO, and no AI-written slop. Instead, it's just me as a human, building something I want to share. 💾.

My latest newsletter is about going live with @thurrott on Windows Weekly from a basement on a road trip. But also, it’s about what you need to look and sound professional on any Windows PC — hardware, software, setup tweaks, and more.

My new publication is what happens when I'm completely untethered from SEO, clickbait, viral content, and any notions of what tech journalism "should be." Check it out.

My new AutoHotkey script transforms the way scrolling works on Windows. Seriously: This is how it should work out of the box! I'll be using it for years to come. I'm shocked how well it works. And yes, this was "vibe coded" — in under than an hour.

The slowly-unfolding premise of the Good Place is that everyone is damned. They are damned because they participate in the modern world; they buy from sweatshops, they eat chocolate, they fly in airplanes while the poorest people in the world see their harvests fail thanks to.

Marc Andreessen says someone ran a small Llama model on a Windows 98 Dell PC, suggesting we could have been "talking to our computers in English" for nearly 30 years. Timing is everything.

It's good to see someone finally telling the story of Valnet's origins. Out of respect for everyone involved, that's all I'll say for now.

This is a supercharged, professionally polished version of the type of piece I would have published at How-To Geek more than a decade ago. I hope you read it!

PS: This isn't to dismiss larger publications — I write for many of them, and I love it! But there's something magical about a direct personal dispatch delivered direct to your email from someone you know, too.

This is the kind of piece that I couldn't write at many publications — at least not in this way! Check it out: It's raw and personal — just what I'd personally recommend. No SEO focus, no hedging, no back and forth — just my informed opinion.
