Just occasionally nature and design narrative seem inextricably linked - the perennial hand of support offered without compromise by @RNLI crews and this extraordinary multistem tree holding a wave eroded stone seemed to me to be one of those occasions #RNLIatChelsea

Purbeck stone, a beautiful material local to the @RNLI HQ was laid down 100million years ago under placid seas - the perfect material expression for inclusion as path under the loggia in the Chelsea garden #RNLIatChelsea #RHSChelsea #ProjectGivingBack

Elm was originally used in the construction of @RNLI lifeboats so it seemed the perfect opportunity to delight at the distinctive bark and emergent foliage of resistant elm species by using them in the @The_RHS Chelsea garden #RNLIatChelsea #ProjectGivingBack #RHSChelsea
