We walked into a broken school. Children were on the roof- literally. Parents were angry. Teachers were broken. We put our heart and soul into it .We told students that could achieve better than anyone but it required hardwork and self discipline. It worked.

This is what Heads are up against: a culture in society and media that insists good behaviour is a bad thing.

I have found in schools there are drains and radiators . Surround yourself with radiators. Radiators can be turned off sometimes but drains make everyone exhausted.

Told my pupils today about how I was thinking about my grandad’s headteacher today who had to tell his students they had to get on a train to the countryside and stay with strangers for 3 years. You may have to stay at home and log on to google hangouts was easy in comparison.
