True Crime Time is open to submissions! This blog is a collaborative space for academics working in or around true crime culture, & I'm looking for short, snappy articles about the true crime boom. I'd be grateful for help in getting the word out. https://t.co/I73mjsnLYG

Delighted to be sharing work from another academic today. @MinXu_cc is on the True Crime Time blog, questioning the ethics of true crime in relation to Chinese media productions, and the celebrated series Drifting Away 漂白. https://t.co/Q7KbqRt1TH

It's a lovely week for academic news. I found out yesterday that my paper, 'Characterising the Crime Writer: The fictive grey space of Agatha Christie’s biography', has been accepted for the Women’s Writing Conference in January 2026.

One of the amazing Criminology students from the University of Worcester interviewed me recently about true crime culture, and our cultural desensitisation around violence. The interview is now *live* on our academic blog for anyone who fancies a read! https://t.co/p0Sq8fMf1K

Aca-Christmas-Horror-Colleagues I’ve an emergency for an essay on eco-horror and Christmas involving supernatural or magical creatures, pointing to a pagan/folk horror past. Can’t involve ghosts but can be in any media. If interested drop me a message to: baconetti@gmail.com

After a few days to consider the series end, I have finally written my (extensive) thoughts about Monster: The Ed Gein Story. Brennan and Murphy have created a masterclass in meta-narratives and audience manipulation, and I applaud their efforts here. https://t.co/UmdkCO9nYn

I had a great laugh with UG students from Media and Film Studies today when I introduced them to ASMR Mukbang. Their facial expressions for those three minutes are an absolute highlight of this week's teaching.

I finished Monster: The Ed Gein Story yesterday (10/10 no notes). So I’m spending Sunday morning with white hot chocolate and a revisit to the Mindhunter series! It takes me forever to get through a series these days, but I’m on a real kick for serial killer dramatisations again.
