We just couldn’t let it go! The Gamesworld lads from the back of Chapter’s Middle Abbey St, Kev & Mick are the new owners of Chapters - reopening Friday 11th March!
One final thank you for your support and custom over the past 39 years. It has been great to see so many of you over the past number of months. The whole team is humbled by the response to our closure, and so proud of the legacy that we leave behind.

If you like to DM, your daughter is welcome to come into us and pick a few books that she can take home in a Chapters tote bag - hopefully it will be in addition to getting her bag, purse and tokens back 😊
13 year old Yeva Skalietska has been in Ireland 11 months, the story of her experience of the war in Ukraine, told in diary form, in a new language, that she has learnt through school & television, is extraordinary.
We have copies in store signed in both English and Ukrainian.
A sincere thank you too all our customers. We have had 40 wonderful years in business thanks to your support. Keep reading and enjoy shopping for some wonderful titles in store.

We are quite sad to hear Book Depository are closing. We know that the original founders sold their company & it is now owned by the Amazon Monster, but it takes courage & vision to start & build a company & for that they deserve commendation. 1/2
We’ve had to stop letting people in store for the evening. We are at capacity and have to work to get through the large queues in store before closing. Apologies for any disappointment, but we will be open again tomorrow at 12 midday.

Stay tuned for future installments!
Apologies with the lateness of our announcement & being a bit scatty this weekend - Daisy, The Best Girl™️ made her last visit to the vet after 17 years of being everyone’s friend, comfort blanket & eater of scraps 💜
Fully agreed! We can't afford to sell things at or below cost like some larger retailers or online stores. Think about just where your money may be going before you leap into the too-good-to-be-true offers! And remember the world would be a boring place without indie bookshops :)
Ok, as
#BlackFriday
frenzy starts, please remember that local independent shops can't afford to half-price their stock right before Christmas. Try to keep a bit of money back to support local too - they pay taxes, employ staff & they make our towns nicer places to be!

More importantly, they employed some very knowledgeable booksellers & they serviced a market of readers.
We hope the booksellers & support staff all find solid & financially viable employment soon.
This has made us all very smiley & happy … not an easy thing to do, working in retail, days before Christmas! 😂
We made it! Good News Stories of the Year Irish Indo magazine!

Something very special happened - Claire Keegan popped in & signed her entire back catalogue, as well as her new work - So Late In The Day.
Books are priced individually, but if you would like the collection pulled together & sent out to you, send me a DM & we will arrange 😊
You see, bookshops are dreams built of wood and paper. They are time travel and escape and knowledge and power. They are, simply put, the best of places.

The women at the table next to me are probably in their late 70s, they are having tea & cake and obviously a really juicy gossip … much rising of eyes, knowing looks and spluttering laughter … it is ALL in Irish & it is totally the vibe I needed this morning!

We are rather delighted to announce we are licensed to join Guaranteed Irish, the first bookstore in the country to achieve this recognition. Guaranteed Irish is a not-for-profit business membership organisation that has been representing businesses in Ireland since 1974.
Every time I get cross or depressed with what I am seeing on Twitter (I’m old skool), I remember that I only truly found Mary Oliver through other people posting her on here.
