More and more I see the Psalms not simply as praises, but as battle songs of the army of saints as we march to victory. Maybe we stopped singing them because some of us did not want to judge the world and war against sin. Too content with its pleasures to mortify the flesh.

Belief is defined by action. There is no one who believes and then acts contrary as no one will ever act against belief (sans coercion). I believe the enemy is within the gates.

Alright, here are a few quick clips of a #PCA in #NAPARC where a Teaching Elder (Pastor Joel Littlepage) says this: "...I want everyone to hear it from me as your pastor, because you're gonna hear it either way. We had discerned, Melissa and I, in our journey seeking the Lord's

Because liberty itself isn't something to be valued, it is defined by negation: liberty is being unbound (the opposite of legere, to bind). This begs the questions "unbound from what?". Do you stand for the liberty to murder? The liberty to rape and pillage? If not, you also

@ReallyOldLife This goes without saying. They would proudly call themselves illiberal. Liberty is not something that the CN crowd values.

Why would "goodness" depend upon the listeners' response? The goodness proceeds from Him that does and He has conquered all.

The woman benefits by not doing this degrading, perverse job. The viewer subjected to this grotesque feature have benefits by experiencing and associating disgust with sportsball. All benefit knowing the depths of perversion of the NFL owners. I don't know who loses.

Meandering through Williamsburg today, I can't help but think the sky might hint at fire and brimstone soon, maybe only 5-10 years.

If there is one reason why egalitarianism has prevailed, it is that superiors have failed in their duties. Culture--the sum of habits practiced a group of people--is entirely set from the top down. It is the duty of superiors to cultivate.

@chalkandpaste Scholarship has for too long been completely detached from piety.

A thought to add. While the judgements of the courts of the church are implemented through the people of the church... The church must also know of the judgements so as to pray that the offenders repent and return. Love is the heart of discipline. The law is love.

Recent events reminded me of a behaviour among modern Presbyterians I find distasteful. Church discipline ought to be a long and windy road, starting at the very first as a private matter. It begins with home visitations, not charges. It begins with brothers confronting each

The fault of the Pharisees to codify application of the law to make it easier for the simple (an abdication of duty). But application requires wisdom and obedience from a contrite heart. Secondarily, they equated righteousness with adherence to talmud and so replaced grace with

Knowledge is not piety. Theological study is only a benefit when applied to obtain piety for yourself and others. What are we, gnostics? Corollary: ministers and elders should have no fear in expounding and applying the law concretely and experimentally on behalf of the flock.

Of that inheritance and cup which unto me pertain, JEHOVAH is the portion sure; my lot Thou dost maintain. To me most happily the lines in pleasant places fell; the heritage which I received in beauty doth excel.

Usury is a pernicious sin. But usury is contextualized by Christ, and I think in a very helpful way: "And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had

I think a sort of transubstantiationism has taken root among protestants, though not of the bread and wine... I frequently see an altar-like installation, usually wooden, which during the administration of the Lord's supper seems to transubstantiate into a table.
