gravelly is a word used to describe a deep, husky voice and i associate that with will's voice. only later did i think that "grit" would have been fitting bc it's abt will's self-discovery and his grit and determination to follow his heart but by then it was too late to change.

so i looked up words that start with "gr" and i was considering grovel but that means to beg and be submissive and i was like ok no. then i came across gravel and it made sense bc gravel means rock and it was fitting for the theme of will's life being a bumpy, chaotic road

its funny bc the guilt of cheating on mike is the thing that bothers him the least. there is guilt, no doubt, but it's more guilt for being a cheater in general and not because of mike entirely bc mike himself was not fully committed to him or their relationship.

#funfact i knew that the third g of "of grief greed and gravel" should be "guilt" bc yaknow the guilt of being a cheater and all but i wanted another gr-word and the guilt for mike was not as strong of an emotion as the grief will felt for el and the greed will felt for chance.

he knows he needs to talk to him somehow and he knows lucas sinclair is friends with him so he has to do something but at the same time he's scared because the rumors have gotten to him a bit but also will is too pretty to not reach out to and he wants to make himself known.

he knew will byers was not normal and he knew that physically he would not look normal either but he was wrong because will is not peculiar-abormal but ethereal-abnormal and he can't breathe bc why did such a cute and pretty boy come back to the shitty small town that hates him.

it's the first day of school and he sees the hellfire guys in the hallways with someone he doesn't recognize and he can't believe it bc wdym THAT is will bc he doesn't look creepy at all he has downturned green eyes and a mole above his lip and he seems a big shy and quiet and oh

he's heard so much about will byers without ever actually seeing him. so when he hears that the byers are back in hawkins a part of him is curious to know what all the fuss is about and if will really is a freak. he pictures will to be an eccentric, peculiar-looking creep at best

he feels uncomfortable with the homophobic stuff people say about will and he tells himself that it's just because will is a kid and ppl shouldn't throw slurs at a kid but actually it's far more personal than just that and he doesn't know why he's so defensive about that one part

something about chance not being around for all the zombie boy and will getting kidnapped stuff and everything he's heard is through exaggerated and outlandish rumours so he thinks that will is probably some odd and peculiar weirdo esp bc he's friends with hellfire members

something about chance's jersey number being 22 and will's birthday being on 22nd march. something about chance moving to hawkins around the same time will moved out of hawkins for california. hmm. inchresting.
