If there is no relative, or if the home situation is deemed (by the officers) to be unsafe the child is turned over to Child Services. First-hand experience here. Went to state facility, then into foster home. So yes, EXACTLY the same situation.

But that aside, it’s not the same situation at all because kids with their parents trying to get in the country ate not in immediate danger from their own parents like these scenarios you described.

You cant get arrested and then say you are seeking asylum. Now if you go through port of entry you won't be arrest. People don't want to wait.
