I was so disappointed with @RCPhysicians tonight. 📊 presented data from survey in a completely biased way 💬failed to answer questions posed to them Many Drs making well throught out points; but RCP leadership not engaging in good faith Think @RCPEdin may be the way to go.

This is literally so stupid! Previously you used to be able to transfer to oxford part way through medical school. I should know, I did, along with many others. If you’re going to ‘fact check’ people, probably worth you checking relatively basic facts?! @doctor_oxford

Cheers may have been premature as we are still on the tarmac! At this point think it may be better to be out with @hollymorgs, @OllyBrown and the rest of the 🇬🇧#cardiology team in #Amsterdam
Cheers erupt as crew arrive for ✈️ May still make it back this evening. 🤞🏻 But given @British_Airways cancelled the flight before (and told me to book a hotel room), I hope they don’t leave me out of pocket!

Glorious end to #ESCCongress stuck in the airport due to cancelled @British_Airways flight. Staff don’t know anything but at least time for another beer with @OllyBrown

Does anyone regularly measure DOAC plasma levels? No need to right? data from 🇮🇹 suggests that stroke ⬆️ in those with ⬇️ plasma levels while 🩸 is ⬆️ in this with ⬆️ levels. Do we need to think about measuring levels after NOAC initiation? @escardio #ESCCongress

Is it worth prescribing PPI with anticoagulation in those with AF? Data from 🇹🇭 suggests that there’s no benefit in doing so? 🤔 do you prescribe PPIs regularly for anticoagulation? Worth rethinking? #ESCCongress @escardio

Fantastic presentation from @DrMArdissino on telomere length on risk of AF. - observationally: ⬇️ telomeres assoc w ⬆️ AF (but weak when adjusted) - but no assoc when using Mendelian randomisation telomeres likely just a marker of chronologic age. @Oxford_NDPH @adamkvonende

Is AF ablation safe in those ⬆️ 80 years old? Data from 🇩🇪 centre - relatively low life threatening complication (2.4%) -quite high general complications (8%) - reasonable longer term success rates Suggests we must be careful with patient selection. @escardio #ESCCongress
