Yesterday I received the notice of award for my Katz R01 with my amazing colleagues @_DougBrubaker and @draliciaberard to study the reproductive microenvironment in infertility!.

This study identified key molecular and immunological relationships with cervicovaginal inflammation that could have important implications for reproductive health including HIV susceptibility and cervical cancer progression.

We found that cervical CD14+ cells were increased with increased inflammation, identified differences in bacteria and bacterial metabolism, and found relationships between inflammation and metabolites including increased xanthine with high inflammation.

Participants were grouped into low, medium, and high inflammation groups based on cytokine levels then we examined differences in each dataset by inflammation group and employed a Bayesian network approach to identify potential interactions between top features from each dataset.

In this study we collected paired cervical cytobrushes and cervicovaginal lavage from participants attending gynecological clinics in Winnipeg and undertook multi-‘omics analysis of immune cells, cytokines, host proteome, microbiome, bacterial proteome, and metabolome.

I have a PhD in microbiology and immunology and used to make all my own agar plates for bacterial culture and viral plaque assays and I can’t get Jello to set 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️.

Sent my little guy to daycare in a KN95. When I got there to pick him up he had the mask pulled down to his chin so he could pick his nose 🤦🏻‍♀️.
