Whilst I don’t miss how naive early 20s me could be, I do miss that sense of discovery, before the map got small. But I’m thankful for the lessons still to learn.

I learnt a lot on that trip, I’m sure most peoples major travels in their early twenties are like that. You realise why there are so many cliches about travelling, you’re confronted with the scope of the world and your own smallness.

They were shot on a Canon Powershot, a single lens digital with a 30x optical zoom (the reason I bought it). Whilst I started the trip shooting in Raw I had no where near enough card space and no way to offload them, so everything ended up JPEG pretty early in the trip.

Nostalgic for the Journey. For ten years these photos represented the only time I’d used a camera for art. Taken in Nepal, across 3 months at the end of 2014. I had just graduated and all i knew of photography was from an optional workshop in uni and two assignments.

Recently my “following” feed has looked more like the hellscape that is the “for you” tab I realise now it’s because it’s more often showing me posts, that people I follow comment on And all I can think is damn, y’all engage with some brain dead ideas This grass needs cutting.

The lack of authenticity the algorithm encourages by prioritising an endless breadth of engagement with zero care for depth, is eroding genuine participation, communication, and our sense of online community.
