You're entirely right about the generational trauma of Igbos.
My friend Obiora grew up in Port Harcourt and he told me that it was normal to walk past a police station on the way to school and see a fresh body on the parade ground every week.

The last time I went for protest my wife head-butted a policeman who tried to seize her phone, I ended up in DSS custody + had to tackle and wrestle a hired thug after he snatched my phone and made a b-line for Apo bridge.

I understand why it feels that way but it doesn't need to. A good practice I find is to assume that people will respond when they are capable. The message might be a lot to process at the time or they might just be in a weird place themselves. Best not to hinge on the response.

42% of Nigeria's population (>81 million) are under 16.
That is at least 20 million potential new voters every election cycle. We can take this country back with the right focus.

- 69% of all women intentionally killed in Africa in 2017 were killed by intimate partners or other family members.
- The most dangerous place for a woman is the home.
