It is sickening to think that ALL of middle east was largely conflict free until the U.S started supplying weapons to Saudi Arabia in the 1950s.

Where are the miracles?
150 people were killed in a bombing last week and the economy is in the toilet.
Where are the miracles?
You people must be praying backwards.

This has been a major drawback during my house hunt. People actually think it is okay to have one tiny sliver of light in a room.
I’m literally choosing to move 15 mins farther than my current address because that’s where I found ventilation and natural light.
So I was supposed to visit a farm somewhere along Lagos-Ibadan Express tomorrow morning.
Farm owner just called to cancel because the owner of the farm next to hers got kidnapped today an she has no intention of going back there anytime soon.
@aproko_doctor
Why don't we regroup? Stand down and come out stronger after a week. Hong Kong has been at it for 19 months. We can study them and learn a thing or two.
For one thing, we need MUCH BIGGER CROWDS GATHERED IN ONE LOCATION - NATIONAL ASSEMBLY.

I like this guy. There's no shame in demanding your due credit.
Most of us cannot fathom the amount of work that goes into real journalism. So when someone toils through the night, poring over research material, the least you can do is give them credit when it yields fruit.

So wild how I didn’t know the colloquial terms ‘Incel’ and ‘Simp’ until I returned to twitter.
From what I’ve gathered so far it seems the people who call others simps are often incels? 👀
It is sad that this crisis has spread across the country. A beautiful farm I visited in 2018 has also shut down because the owner got kidnapped.
His son went to pay ransome and they took him too. Spoke to the guy some weeks ago and he said.
"It is over, I'm looking to sell it."
As a kid in Aba, walking to school, charred corpses on the street were a common sight for me.
You're entirely right about the generational trauma of Igbos.
My friend Obiora grew up in Port Harcourt and he told me that it was normal to walk past a police station on the way to school and see a fresh body on the parade ground every week.
I'm struggling to process these things through my Lagos lens.
Really struggling...

plugged me to the most demanding audiobook production I’ve had to do.
>430 pages, >20hours of recording, about 14 hours of final output.
Reach out to me for your audiobooks and voiceover productions.
@ulxma
I think it probably has to do with the fact that people in our generation move around quite a lot and are rarely settled in a place long enough to cultivate those relationships. It is a bit sad tbh 😞
@ulxma
At the risk of sounding patronizing, I have to say your level of curiosity is an exceptional quality. You ask questions that most folks wouldn’t even give a thought to.
@elnathan_john
I was talking with my wife about this recently. I couldn't agree more. If you love someone, you'd lie to protect their happiness and their sanity. I'd rather live with the burden of the lie than see her hurt for the sake of honesty.
The last time I went for protest my wife head-butted a policeman who tried to seize her phone, I ended up in DSS custody + had to tackle and wrestle a hired thug after he snatched my phone and made a b-line for Apo bridge.
Looking forward.
There will be a march in Abuja tomorrow Friday at 9am to demand that the government declare a state of emergency on the crimes of sexual and gender based violence in Nigeria.

Nice to see you working hard on your reelection bid. But tell your photographer to go easy on the saturation. You cannot drown out the pain or failure with more colour.

There are no words I could have said to Mrs Ngozi Iloamauzor today that can make up for her loss, but as governor, I had to take responsibility.
As a human being, I was close to tears but my words to her were of strength and self care. We will work to provide justice for her.

The fact that you understand patriachy to be the opposite of feminism is a good sign.
Everything IS about it. Even the things you think are not about it, give them time and you will see how much every single form of oppression is intrinsically connected.
@Vaness__ah
I understand why it feels that way but it doesn't need to. A good practice I find is to assume that people will respond when they are capable. The message might be a lot to process at the time or they might just be in a weird place themselves. Best not to hinge on the response.
Don't be scared to reinvent yourself. You have already become a completely different person approximately 4 times in your lifetime. But you remain quintessentially yourself.
Happy 27th, gaffer ♥️
@AdaUbakala
Yes, and so were many of the greatest mass murderers.
What does that have to do with anything?
Faith has always been a social construct and many religious institutions have made or supported scientific endeavors. Both can exist without being incongruous.
But Nigerian men on social media are here saying "I'm not the problem because I have never raped anybody."
Exact same energy and logic as whites who only observe racism from the lens of the white owned media, and quick to say "I have black friends."
The hypocrisy stinks.
The statistics state very clearly that >90% of all reported rapes globally are carried out by family members, friends, teachers and pastors/imams of the victims, which means that rape is primarily a problem with male culture.
Rapists are not anime creatures who fell from the sky
@FakhuusHashim
Last election cycle had 80 million registered voters. Only 34% (<28 million) voted.
42% of Nigeria's population (>81 million) are under 16.
That is at least 20 million potential new voters every election cycle. We can take this country back with the right focus.
- 69% of all women intentionally killed in Africa in 2017 were killed by intimate partners or other family members.
- The most dangerous place for a woman is the home.
- Around the world, a woman or girl is killed every 11 mins in their own home.
My anger is not your problem.

This is why some people say athletes should not be taken seriously as social commentators.
Between recovery and taking a severe beating every other month, I don’t imagine Isreal has much bandwidth to read anything meaningful to improve his thinking.
Saying that a man who openly bragged about raping women, is facing multiple sex trafficking charges and also praises absent fathers is “reviving masculinity” is directly insulting to men and implies that masculinity is a toxic waste.
I came to the village to engage in blood and fire breathing sacrifices to the gods of Urashi, Ala and Amadioha. Now my parents are trying to involve me in Church activities. How do I explain to them that this is not why I'm here?

I am looking for volunteers to join a letter writing crew for this movement. We need to start flooding NASS especially, with query letters backed by the FOI Act. Let's know what's really happening.
There's a big difference between joking and taunting. While a joke can lighten the tone of a difficult conversation, a taunt is an act of aggression.
Many Nigerians think that joking and mockery are the same thing. They're not.
So a new streaming platform reached out to me yesterday asking to license some content I made (and put out for free) like 3 years ago.
The deal closed within hours of the I initial conversation.
I like it when the validation comes unexpectedly and in form of a cheque.💸💸💸
And big bad Germany who were the actual enemies, got the gift of "biggest (U.S owned) economy in Europe" and a slap on the hand in form of a castrated military.
People don't realise that the South Korean economy as we know it is basically an extension of the US economy. They literally built that country from mud in response to the Soviets. Where was the corresponding "statement" country in Africa? We didn't matter enough?
you say this like poverty is somehow dignifying. This is the devious narrative that is propagated in the north by the elite who convince the poor that their poverty is "God's will". You people should continue. History no dey lie.
@eldivyn
You’re too close bro. Every time I enter Lagos, right from the airport in Ikeja, I smell the scum.
You’re right it is worse on the island but all of it stinks. Throw it away please.
It’s not the time or place for English lessons but what you mean to say is “uninhabitable”.
Habitable and inhabitable, confusingly mean the same thing.
Also you’re absolutely correct and it is a tragedy that we’re living out in Nigeria .
I don't know whats going to give but this Nigerian life is not sustainable. There's no need for everything to be this hard, this expensive. I honestly can't believe where we have gotten. It's getting inhabitable and the solution is not a solution.
Another grammatical concern of mine is the over and inappropriate use of the word “would” when people mean “will”.
It is a bit confusing as the word can be used in multiple contexts so I’ll trouble myself to explain in this thread, the various accurate use cases and examples.
The biggest miscalculation we can make is to think that international media will be our saviors. They won't. The West itself is more conservative than it has ever been in the 21st century.
You think Trump's america will save us?? Or Boris Johnson's UK?
We need a real plan.
Let it be known that Nigerian Government wants to spend 1.9 billion on a website. Meanwhile the Total budget for Human Rights Commission is 3 billion naira.

I hate it when people compare prostitution to fraud. Only one of those things is an honest transaction between two consenting adults.

I remember reading Exodus as a teen and I couldn’t wrap my head around why a loving god would “harden Pharoh’s heart, just to show him that he’s god”. What a grotesque show of narcissism.
The less said about Revelations the better.
I’m pretty sure by every standard, the Bible out-scores the other books that got hit by this ban on the metric of vulgarity.
I don’t think there’s any book in human history that glamourises violence, rape and murder the way that book does. Children have no business reading it.
19th of March 2020 at bannex junction, 3 policemen assaulted me for not giving them money. One of them stepped on my foot and fractured my toe. For over 8 weeks my foot was badly swollen and I couldn't walk properly.
