On August 13th 6-7 pm join us outside Kingston City Hall. The more people demonstrating support, the better! This will encourage City Council, donors & future potential partners, to see how important this is to our community. #YGK #TheInclusivePlayProject #Playgrounds4Everyone

Today for DPA we went on a letter hunt in the gym! Students found their letter, identified the sound & made a connection with words on our whiteboard before writing the word on Sky, Grass, Ground! A team effort to strengthen our literacy skills. @ReadALotLDSB

Engagement was high this morning in Class 1! I love seeing our students utilize tools we share with them- here you can see one of our students decoding the word using his fingers to indicate how many sounds and letters he hears before writing the word on our chart! @ReadALotLDSB

Happy Thursday from Class #1 Build it, decode it, write it! Having a tangible activity often helps young minds engage in their learning and adding a secondary component of writing helps to retain letter formation and sounds! @ReadALotLDSB

Did you know that writing skills progress and interact with each other much like reading skills? Just like the reading rope, there is a WRITING ROPE! #LDwebinar

DPA always has a literacy component, today it was “find something in the yard that starts with the sound …, in this case “w” for wall! And “f” for fire-pole! Students voiced words on their own and were eager to play outside. @ReadALotLDSB

A very successful and joyful morning in Class 1. We work hard to find motivating activities for the students generating an experience that is enriched and exciting! Building our phonemic awareness and decoding skills one roll at a time- “Boom!”. @ReadALotLDSB

Roll, Read- Write! Class 1 has made great progress with our printing skills using Sky, Grass, Ground. In this activity first we roll, then we read, next we write. Their confidence is growing and their joy is showing. @ReadALotLDSB

Good Morning from Class 1! Our students were eager to “sink their ship” by landing on selected words. First we roll, then we read. An activity that requires perseverance as for some, they needed to read an abundance of words before landing on their “ship”! @ReadALotLDSB

When we first started our program this year our teachers embraced a draw the alphabet activity! I love seeing students have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in multiple ways through a fun activity, one of the many reasons I love @ReadALotLDSB
