Same for the senses, in the dream the senses were there but when you wake up you realise there was no LITTERAL trees to see,things to smell, it was just your mind so you can't RELY on them to tell you what's real or not.

It's the same now .All of those appearences are all just the awareness appearing as those. We can't believe in seperation knowing this. See how the you in the dream didn't know it was dreaming so for them, all was real and divided ? Same here, you just have to realise it's not

Even to know you're not aware, you need awareness.
Try it, you can't .
Not even in a seeming deep sleep , because there is something that is experiencing deep sleep. No senses, no thoughts, no mind, so what is it that experiences it ? How do you Know?
If you need to maintain awareness, then this is not really awareness. You are making an effort to maintain an imaginary state called "awareness". Such a state is the Mind's assumption. Even if you are not aware, "not-aware" is still awareness. So, awareness cannot be turned off.
