Huge thanks to @carinateaches for inviting me to your class on Wednesday to witness Ss innovation and culinary skills as they cooked fusion noodle dishes. From Brazilian Feijoada penne, to Ethiopian beef spaghetti, to ramen, to lamb ragù this was a journey around the world!

Yesterday in the @StElizabeth2013 #LLC @carinateaches organized the first Gr.11 Food and Culture Food Fair where Ss shared their learning & showcased their fusion noodle dishes. Classes, teachers, & curious #Panthers were invited to visit to see what this CPT was all about.

Today our grade 11s made a beautiful West African ginger drink & keke (lime cake). The cake is traditionally topped with peanuts, so some groups swapped in pumpkin seeds & others used coconut.

Before exams I ask my ss if they learned something. They always say they learned “a lot of things”. I remind them that gaining new knowledge & new perspectives is what it’s about —not THE grade. Ed has shifted 2 problem solving & projects —pressure of marks should be eliminated.

Wish this photo was a scratch & sniff. I love seeing the blooms & smelling them during my post dinner walks.
