I think what people are missing when they argue that these rules are not important is that when they are applied correctly, the grammar of the sentence becomes invisible to the reader.
hey friendly reminder when you're writing dialogue in fics you're meant to end with a comma and not a full stop/period unless an action follows. so it should look like this "I love you, Michaela," Francesca said. and not like this "I love you, Michaela." Francesca said.
