For an introduction for people with little to no background, this Socialism 101 series on youtube is useful. Paul occasionally repeats imperialist propaganda imo, but in general his work is a nice intro. https://t.co/MBPi90wNa6

In short, imperialist propaganda instills a defeatist attitude that prepares us to accept, love, and defend the monstrously exploitative status quo. Communism teaches us that a better world is possible.

This from a state that has over 800 military bases around the world and has k**led around 300 million people since 1492 (figure from Endless Holocausts by David Michael Smith).

This propaganda serves many purposes: it cements the idea that capitalism is inevitable and just, that socialism is doomed to fail, and it manufactures consent for the US to violently police the world to “protect people” from “authoritarianism” and “human rights violations”.

3: learning about communism will help decolonize your mind Growing up in the so-called “US”, we are taught anti-communist propaganda from a young age. I was taught many lies and distortions about China, the USSR, North Korea, Cuba, and others—which I am still unlearning.

They also provided an extensive description of capitalism and imperialism that has resonated with and been adapted to the lived experiences of colonized and oppressed peoples all over the world.

If they have the capacity, they should fight back against police violence, because that's how we keep each other safe. Tactics of active resistance like de-arrest are us keeping each other safe.

When the encampments for Palestine are facing police brutality and other forms of violence (which has happened at encampments all over Turtle Island) it is their right to fight back.

We need to normalize active resistance against colonization and state violence. Peaceful protest can be effective, but passive resistance is only one form of resistance, and has obvious limitations.

Should Haitians have peacefully protested their enslavement? No. They had no choice but to fight, as Palestinian Resistance and the Axis of Resistance have no choice but to fight against the zionist entity.

Palestinian Resistance fighters are not peaceful in the face of genocide. Haitian and Algerian resistance fighters were not peaceful when they fought to expel their colonizer, France, from their respective countries. 25,000 white settlers were killed during the Haitian revolution

By using “the protest was peaceful” as a defense, we are condemning people, including colonized people, who fight to defend themselves against state violence.

Further, we’re implying that peaceful protest is the only valid form of resistance: a very dangerous idea that comes from and serves oppressors.

I'm against using "the protest/encampment is peaceful" as a rhetorical defense. Think about what this implies. We're suggesting that if the protest/encampment was not peaceful, then it would be justified for the state to break it up, exercising their monopoly on violence.
