After the sad shambles of Malago, there was only one cure. A quick caper down to Stokes Croft to the perfect neighbourhood restaurant, and the most perfectly cheering dish: white crab meat drowned in butter with a bucket load of herbs, excellent springy bread and a v good Negroni

We're very excited to begin a series of special evenings on the first Thursday of each month. Availability is super limited, so booking is essential. There will be two time slots of either 7 or 8pm. Our first menu will consist of 5 courses and priced at £60 per person.

We’re incredibly proud to be included for a second year running in The Good Food Guide Top 100. Thanks to our brilliant kitchen team, front of house superstars, our excellent suppliers and loyal customers (and their votes!). Thanks to @goodfoodguideuk for the inclusion 🥂

Thanks to @EdibleReading for introducing me to @caperandcure in Bristol. I didn’t fancy dessert, so they let me order oysters off the specials menu instead. Perfect meal.

I’m not at all sure what my camera decided to focus on here but I liked it anyway 🤷🏻♀️ 📸 Fujifilm XT3 📍 Stokes Croft (@caperandcure) #bnwstreet #black_and_white #blackandwhitestreetphotography #streetphotographer #street_ographers #urbanandstreet #ur… https://t.co/vOSNMp9x9I

Salt cod fritters @caperandcure were like mini versions of the famous croquetas from Bell's Diner back in the day -coincidentally a stone's throw away in Montpelier- while Carlingford oysters in that sweet spot between sweet (spot) & briney (spot) needed barely a squeeze of lemon

Priviliged to be invited to a memorable night at favourite @caperandcure last night, celebrating new Head Chef, Matty Grove (ex-Menu Gordon Jones). The great and the good of Bristol food, national writers, faces from the tellybox, restaurant maven @PXandTarts. And me...

Look at the sheen on this salted chocolate tart with cherry puree, a nibbled, biscuitty cocoa nib tuile and yoghurt ice cream whose tart dairy cleansed and revived @caperandcure. So shiny you could almost see my face in it. But not quite. Which is probably best for all involved.

Although I never order them, @caperandcure always has a tempting vegetarian dish or two, essential in Stokes Croft I imagine. Gnocchi Parisienne with a creamy, ripe Cashel blue sauce, roasted red onions & spiced squash was another one, confirmed by the couple of forkfuls I stole.

Cherry-chocolate vibe of a Rasteau Grenat from Domaine de Beaurenard (not a PX, shock horror) was echoed in a berry compote-blobbed chocolate parfait, dark & dense w cocoa, that came w biscuitty slabs of almond tuile @caperandcure, chosen ahead of the two crèmes: caramel & brûlée

Doubling up on the beef @caperandcure with an 8oz onglet, ruddy and rugged and fries so French they practically sneered at you with derision when you dredged them through an expertly-made béarnaise was perked up by the clever idea of spinning green beans through a Caesar dressing

I've had too many genteel tartares lately, which is not what I want from a tartare. I want gherkins & capers & Worcestershire sauce to slap me round the face shouting "eat your bloody beef". @caperandcure's was a classic of the genre, not too finely minced, boisterously flavoured

@caperandcure – What a little gem of a bistro-style restaurant this is, nestled in Stokes Croft. Great cookery understanding, incorporating classic cooking styles and flavours with a modern flare. I’ve been here quite a few times and I never leave disappointed.
