Something tells me Nintendo wanted Rare DK gone for a while, and once they got the idea of what they want him to look like they were quick to push it everywhere, which is probably why the design doesn't look as good in Mario Kart World compared to Bananza.
Technically speaking, this likely the last game we’re seeing this DK design

This would also probably mean Mario and Pauline are cousins or have some sort of relation if they go with this, unless Jumpman and Lady didn't have children.
After playing through Donkey Kong Bananza here is my hypothesis for the new retconned lore with context clues from the game.

Mario Odyssey isn't a bad game by any means (I still like replaying it even if the replayability is not that good) I just think they kinda dropped the ball by playing it too safe and scrapping most of the interesting concepts.
A lot of Nintendo fans are trashing Mario Odyssey once again. I honestly don't understand the hate. Help me understand it.

I mean imma be real most of the NPCs in odyssey are forgettable to me. It's like they had a lot going on in the concept art but played it safe, which kinda makes me look at the art book on occasion and think how better it would be if they stuck with most concepts.
Finally finished Bananza and I don’t care if this is too early to say.
