Q4 2025 was my final quarter as CEO of Spotify, and it was a strong one. Continued momentum, new records, and a lot of progress across the company. I’m grateful to the teams globally who made it possible and looking forward to seeing Spotify’s next chapter with Alex and Gustav as

Spotify has both ad-supported and paid streams. All listening activity matters. But I think it’s right to weight paid streams more. People paying ~$150 per year for music…it means more, shows a greater level of fan intent, and is better for artists and the ecosystem.
YouTube is pulling out of Billboard charts in 2026, calling their formula “outdated” for weighing paid streams more heavily than ad-supported ones.

Wrapped still surprises me every year…not because it exists (I obviously knew it was coming 😅) but because of how huge it’s become. What started as a small idea over a decade ago has grown to more than 11 trillion minutes of global listening this year alone, and a moment

Here’s an interesting one. When Parlophone rented out their paper sleeve as advertising space.

This week, New Music Friday turns 10 (fun fact: before then, it was actually called New Music Tuesday). Wild to think that a decade ago we launched a playlist that would go on to feature nearly 2 million songs curated by our editors with many more still to come.

We recently started testing out a new type of notification feed in the Spotify app that shows you things like who has started to follow you, new playlist collaborators, concerts near you and other personalized updates. If you're part of the test, you’ll see all of this under

From 889 monthly listeners in 2021 to now over 52 million, @alexwaarren journey has been anything but predictable. But that’s what makes the rise real. This is his Come Up: stripped down, self-made, and just getting started.

Mental health is a serious issue in the artist community. And too often, help is hard to find or doesn’t show up where artists need it. We’re launching a new program—to give support, shift the culture, and make it easier for artists to get help when they need it. More on the

Great tips from @Spotify on #ArtificialStreaming for artists: 1) Be mindful of paying for promotion. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! 2) Do your research. Look out for any anomalies 3) Avoid fan botting 4) Report suspicious activity https://t.co/RruQdkvVWG

Enjoyed being on The Town this week with @MattBelloni and @Lucas_Shaw talking about the state of the music industry, why getting people to pay for music matters, and what I think the biggest opportunity is for artists right now. 🎙:
