Magic Esports would benefit from less focus on optimizing a program of play for 60ish people, and more focus on creating OP that gives all players something to strive for and makes them want to participate long term. It’s hard to care about these announcements anymore.

One of the best things I’ve seen in a while: TO announces T8 pairings and they aren’t according to standings. Says it can’t be fixed in the reporting software and he can’t do anything. The entire top 8 revolts, pairs themselves by standings, and someone hands the TO a bracket.

I played PTQs in Elk’s Club basements which split a couple boxes among the Top 8 that got 3x the attendance of these esports events with a global customer base. When the time is right, I really hope we invest in paper and OP structure again. Esports ain’t it for M:tG.

A decade+ writing with excellent technical chops, a top 25 all-time PT career, a top 5(1?) SCG Tour career, a strong multimedia presence, and the primary takeaway is “wow, lots of money.” There are like 3 people on the planet w/ this skill set. Know your worth.
In the off chance both the WotC announcement is good and SCG wants to hire people back, I highly recommend not going back without requesting a raise from your previous rate.
