Prior to December, billionaires with a net worth of at least $797 billion moved from the state since 2019. Prior to the end of 2025 and including Larry Ellison, billionaires with a net worth of at least an additional $813 billion left the state as well.
DATA INSIGHTS: California’s Proposed ‘Billionaire Tax’. Capital leakage in 2025 was more than the last 5 years combined. This capital leakage is equivalent to about 40% of the taxable base identified by the supporters of the proposed #wealthtax.

This chart from the @Center4jobs latest report really says it all. High net-worth individuals are highly mobile and are moving capital out of California because of the threat of a dangerous #wealthtax.
