Resources certainly come into play BUT where was Alabama’s program at prior to Saban? Not like they didn’t have the resources before they went after him.
Saban won at the highest level, was amazing, no doubt. But Deboer has been a much better coach at stops where he doesn’t have a massive resources advantage. Saban didn’t exactly kill it with an even playing field with Miami or Michigan State.

Those covering HS football tread lightly with prognosticating the season. Teams are not the same from Week 0 to the end of the season. Pay attention beyond just the box score as it is not indicative of what a team will accomplish by seasons end. Same applies to college as well.

When you have a numbers advantage in the run gamedue to pre-snap bubbles (gaps that appear not to be accounted for), it becomes a track meet. This is something that needs to be considered when evaluating HS RBs. Once the RB crosses the midline 👇 it becomes a track meet.

The question is whether or not that can be sustained over an entire season. It’s week 1. And whether or not durability will come into play. 14 pass attempts and 49 yards may have been able to win games consistently several decades ago and for 1 game it’s great but wait till Wk 6.
14 passes and 49 runs is an awesome fit for a super mobile QB in Gus’s spread option attack. Was also impressed by the clean ball handling on all the fakes in wet conditions
