Solid hit here by James Hagens to help the U.S. get possession back. Both players got matching minors for something off screen. Hagens skill is well known, but he also plays with more edge than given credit for. Not afraid to get in there which is important especially at center

Additionally - BOS has to get their shit together on the ice at the NHL level. They don't need Hagens to get their defensive structure back - and it won't be an ideal environment for him as a rookie as they try to achieve that. It's best for all for him to arrive in the spring.

Hagens talks about wanting to win a Beanpot, National Championship, third straight WJC Gold for team USA (in the U.S. this year). Starring in these high profile tournaments as "the guy" will be an invaluable. Concluding his sophomore year before turning pro is 100% the right play.

Can’t stress enough the importance of BOS finally getting a prospect of this caliber - especially up the middle. Heads will shake in time when people remember where he fell to and the reason(s) for it but hey - I’m glad he did.
