There are roughly 480 full-time NRL players. 3 are in the courts. That represents less than 1 percent. More than 99 percent of rugby league players are doing the right thing.
#worthremembering
Can’t buy into the argument that if you played the game, you will understand things can go wrong. Fact is if it goes wrong, you get suspended. You don’t need to play the game to understand that. Go hard, go soft. It doesn’t matter. Get it wrong and you pay the price.
May as well scrap Origin if Jason Taumalolo is allowed to play. Has already played for NZ. Pretty sure that makes him ineligible to play for Australia. There’s already a game for guys like him called the All Stars
Nice touch by Jimmy Maloney. Teammates in business class, he is sitting in cattle class with his kids. Got a big cheer from the punters as he made his way back to join the great unwashed, me included
This talk about the AFL threatening the NRL in Queensland is laughable. They have spent $20 million a year on the Gold Coast and barely made a dent. Spare me
Warriors won 3 in a row with O’Sullivan at halfback to get back in finals contention. He gets dropped and Chad comes in. Warriors now 0-4 with Townsend at halfback this season.
#JustSayin
Had a beer with Greeny at Christmas on the Gold Coast. Feels like it was yesterday. Such a good bloke and a hell of a coach. He will be missed by all who knew him. We have lost a ripper.
Michael Maguire isn’t the problem at the Tigers. The problem at the Tigers is the same problem they have had for years - some players prefer to point fingers rather than look in the mirror when they lose footy games
Is there a more toxic dressing room in the NRL than the Wests Tigers? Players walking on eggshells because they are worried about being dropped. Here’s an idea to ensure you keep your spot - win some games.
Not saying this as a reflection on Storm or the players involved, but spare a thought for Lachlan Lewis. He tried to sell a speaker - potentially as a practical joke - and had his contract torn up!!!
On another note, watched the Shane Warne documentary the other night. Loved every minute of it. Every now and then you need to watch footage of Warney to remind yourself how good he was. Superstar on the pitch, rock star off it. We could do with him now
What about this rubbish from Gold Coast Suns chair Tony Cochrane: “We’ve got terrific TV ratings up here, we’re quite often winning Thursday and Friday night timeslots up against the NRL.” Just had a look over the past month. AFL has been regularly smashed by NRL in Queensland
To clarify, Harry Grant wasn’t talking about himself when it comes to working on the tools, he was talking about the guys at the bottom of the pay scale. So go easy on the guy. He was sticking up for the battlers
Little fact on Melbourne. Of the 25 players they have used in the past 3 grand finals, only 4 have not made their debut at the club. Of those 4, only one was a regular first grader when he was signed - Dale Finucane. Shows how smart the club is in recruiting and retaining players
Re: end of game. Referee Ashley Klein receives a countdown in his ear. The end of the game isn't dictated by the siren. It is dictated by the countdown he receives
Now Latrell’s people have played the rugby union card, there’s only one thing left - the NFL!! Not sure who is advising Latrell - he seems to have about 3 managers - but can’t remember a more ham-fisted handling in recent years.
Anthony Seibold has landed a cracking job with England rugby union. He earned it through hard work and impressing Eddie Jones, a man who demands excellence and doesn't suffer fools. Let's be happy for him people. No need for the negativity.
Shame that another great Origin game has been overshadowed by the decision to give Wally Lewis medal to Billy Slater. Hell of a player, one of the best we have ever seen, but surely Damien Cook or James Maloney. Even James Tedesco.
Poor form from Leilua. Had a nightmare night, scores the winning try, and then gets up and gives the Bulldogs players a spray. He didn’t deserve to be on the winning team.
Ricky Stuart on decision: “You all saw it. None of us will be commenting on that tonight. It is not the time to talk about it. The Roosters achieved something special tonight.
“I don’t want to take the spotlight off that.”
Interesting to note Shaun Johnson has suggested some media outlets might twist and spin his social media statement. Might be worth remembering there is only one reason this is a story in the first place. Media weren’t the ones blowing up on the field ...
I was a supporter of Seibold getting the job in Brisbane and remain a fan of his as a coach and a bloke. But it clearly isn’t working. He should have axed Milford or Croft weeks ago. Other changes as well. I fear it is now too late
Love football. Played it all my life. Love the World Cup as well. Always will. But the feigning and exaggeration of injury and contact really gets under my skin. It’s deadset embarrassing watching grown men collapse in a heap.
No rugby union expert and not a lot of interest in the code, but can someone please explain why the ARU doesn’t break the bank and bring Eddie Jones home. Bloke is a genius.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I would have had no issue with May being binned. Understand it was a head clash but defender has obligation to avoid head contact. It was careless at best. Anyway, let the vitriol flow
NSW Rugby League have formally raised concerns with the NRL over Ronaldo Mulitalo’s eligibility for Queensland. Oh mama, it’s Origin eve drama at its best. This is moving fast
How tough is Paul Gallen. He has finally gone down in round 10. The referee has stopped the fight. Unbelievable courage from Gallen, unbelievable performance from Huni
#GallenHuni
Apparently Flanagan didn’t knee Lodge in the head with enough force to justify missing any games. Would have thought a knee to the head was enough, regardless of amount of force. Go figure...
Let's be clear. Albury Council voted against Storm using grounds they run. Club had already secured the local AFL ground, which is not run by council. So train on.
Breaking: Latrell Mitchell grade 2 reckless high tackle. Base penalty 5 matches. With loaning, early plea is 6 matches. Needs a miracle to play again this season
Angus Crichton announcement today confirms again why the NRL needs to reform contract system. Souths fans have to sit thru season of watching Crichton knowing he is on his way to their arch rivals. Shocking look for game
Feel sorry for Wests Tigers fans after that. Gutsy by the Warriors but that was a woeful performance by the Tigers. Abject, embarrassing. Take your pick
Strange call by Saints for me. Finish 11th after a season where discipline was a problem, yet decide to extend the coach when they are the only club in the market for his services. I like Hook, but he has been kissed on the you know what by a rainbow
In defence of Wests Tigers and Michael Maguire, their injury toll is ridiculous. Significant number of starters on sideline. Nevertheless, Friday night is another huge game for club
Just a point to those who are criticising NRL over Billy Slater decision. The NRL charged Slater. The decision to exonerate him was made by 3 independent people. NRL has no influence over how they think or act, as it should be.
Really had a gutful of people saying the Dylan Napa tackle was an accident. Players get charged for accidents all the time. Accident or not has nothing to do with whether match review committee lays charges.
If Canterbury win this, Josh Jackson should take a bow. He has been outstanding tonight. Love him as a player. Never gives anything less than everything he has
Gee whiz, Adam Reynolds better be the second coming of Alfie or this could be another long season for the Broncos. They have been smashed tonight by a side many were tipping to win the spoon
Thoughts on tonight. Ben Hunt was outstanding and will provide an outstanding one-two punch with Harry Grant when he is back. Kalyn Ponga is an out and out superstar. A game changer. Cameron Munster had his best game in series, so too big Tino.
That’s it for me folks. Been fun. Might sneak back for a cameo but hols now here. Thanks to those who were positive and supportive. It’s been a blast. And thanks to all those who were negative and critical too. You help make it interesting . See you in ‘24, hopefully in Vegas 🤞
It is the defender's responsibility to avoid contact with the head. Surely in the age we live in, when an AFL player has just won an insurance payout of $1.4 million over repetitive head knocks, it doesn't matter whether it is an accident. Hit someone in the head, you get banned.
Wests Tigers get financial settlement for Josh Aloiai and Brisbane chip in for Joe Ofahengaue, a player with talent and a point to prove. That’s the way you do business in the off-season
Can understand
@NRL_Dragons
frustrations with events this morning concerning Cleary and shoulder charge. They have every reason to ask some serious questions of NRL and MRC. Lack of consistency an issue yet again
NRL has stripped one player manager of his accreditation, fined another and moved against 2 others as they make good on plans to hold agents to same standard as players and officials. Full story on

Just spoken to Tom Trbojevic about that video. “I was having a few drinks and I was being an idiot on the corso. I know how it is going to look but I swear, I didn’t hurt it then." There are few better or more honest blokes in the game. I am happy to take him at his word.
What a player Matt Scott has been. For all the talk about the likes of Smith, Thurston, Cronk, Slater and Inglis, someone had to lay the platform for the Maroons over their dynasty. No-one did it better than Scott. Great player for the Cowboys and Queensland
Phil Gould just claimed he could fix the refereeing issues in one year - and he would do it for free. That’s an interesting offer. Might be worth a call.
Crazy day at Penrith. Rumours about the club making a play for Ivan to return are gathering strength. Would mean Nathan stays put. Tigers officials unable to be contacted. This is madness. Madness I say
Was on sideline on Friday night and had a bird’s eye view of
@robbiefarah
. He wasn’t happy at one point but not once did I see him gesture towards coaches box or hear him say anything derogatory about the coach
Once again, Harry Grant was referring to players at the lower end of the pay scale, not himself. People need to keep that in mind before criticising him.
