Unfortunately i couldn't find anything more about this painting. And I am not the best theorizer... but I'm just happy to talk about one of my favourite drawings. Thanks for reading !

Well, if the 'painting' of the queen and the king are actually a mirror, that means they are next to us, the witnesses of this drawing being made. Diego Velázquezwas a true prodigy- he wasn't looking at us,he was referencing ro queen and the king.

So, where the king may be? In this painting (which is in another painting) brighter than the other portraits hanged in the room. Perhaps a mirror instead of a painting. This work is full of mysteries after all. (Third image is what the other paintings, left in the dark are.)

As I've said at the start, it's the painting of the royal family of Spain... Then,where's the king? Maybe... The guy with the paints in his hand? No, that's Diego himself. The king preferred poems. So, what is he doing? Painting the painting he's in.

And this guy? Butler of the queen. We can't quite tell if he's about to unter the room, or if he's about to leave.

Let's continue examining the 11 people in this captivating painting. This couple; We do not know about who the male is, unlike everyone in this painting. It's theorised that he's a guardian of the royal family.

Back to the dwarf person and Diego; Diego really liked drawing people who didn't fit the norms of other people. The ones who were laughed at and mocked shamelessly.
