Every student should feel as if you have been waiting all day and night for them to arrive at school to come join the fun! #kidsdeserveit

Thank you to @IB_Eich staff for having a separate promotion for the students who were quarantined from last week’s promotion. You took a less than ideal situation and made it a special morning today! Always going above and beyond for students! #rcsdchampions

What an immense amount of work our entire #rcsdchampions staff has put in to get ready for the first day of school. Wishing all educators and students a great first day tomorrow!

After 13 years at home with the kids, next year will definitely be a huge change for our family as Liz starts teaching kindergarten in August. So proud of her and all the work she put in getting ready for next year. And as any educator knows, it is so much work.

incarceration rates, health, or any or area, our first thought must be about what discriminatory current policies, previous policies, or actions have led to that disparity. Our second thought should be what action we can take to help change this racial discrimination. 8/10

One other thing that was said in the book really rang true to me. Dr. Kendi said that if we truly believe racial groups are equal, then racial disparities MUST be from racial discrimination. So when we hear of disparities between whites and blacks in wealth, education, 7/10

and anti-racists (those who actively reject any idea that Black people or any people are inferior in any way). And as a society, it seems like we moved from segregationists to assimilationists, but have not moved to anti-racists. 6/10

Listening to the book and Dr. Kendi’s ideas, what he describes is there are three types of people: segregationists (who are basically racists), assimilationists (those who seek to combat racial disparity but find blame in the oppressed), 5/10

I started listening to the audiobook “Stamped from the Beginning” (currently free on Spotify for anyone that wants to listen) by Ibram X. Kendi and a lot of what is in the book has helped me understand better why we seem to be stuck as a country. 4/10

Yet since that time our country has been stuck in the fact we still seem to accept racist policies and racial inequalities. This isn’t to say we have not made some progress since then, but definitely not enough. 3/10

The one thought I kept having as I have tried to educate myself is it seems that, thanks largely to the civil rights movement in the ‘60s, most Americans (I know definitely not all) moved away from being openly racist. 2/10

As I have been teaching online for a number of years now, I thought it might be useful to share some of my principles for active engagement. See more: https://t.co/CaEfdeeE2r

Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day, and it is my first as an administrator. I wanted to take a moment to share how enormously impressed I am with all teachers! #rcsdchampions #weareCUE #capcuepln #TeacherAppreciationDay

It takes everyone to make this change a successful one. Thankful for everyone that is doing their best in these unprecedented times. While none of this has been easy, it is always easier knowing we are all doing this together, and working hard for our children.
