With the ongoing war in #Ethiopia and the widespread looting of (sacred) treasures, eBay should STOP all auctions of Ethiopian objects. Selling relics from a country that is at war, is irresponsible. PERIOD. @eBay @EthiopianNewsA @EthiopiaEU @Gadaa @ThomasJ_Tierney @rcoreyb

In my book 'Hitler's Horses' I mention that in 2003 I contacted Christie's about this mosaic in their auction. I explained to them that it wasn't a 2nd century Roman mosaic but a fake. They sold it anyway for USD 107,550. Can you tell why this is a forgery?

This is still my favorite case regarding forgeries. A 3,000 year old Olmec head was declared authentic by many experts and laboratoria. Sold for $15 million. Till I came up with pictures of a guy (Luis Bianchi) sculpting that very head out of a stone. Yeah right, 3,000 years old.
