LAST NIGHT we created a temporary safe path on Valencia St for ppl biking & scooting while motorists idled in the bike lane. It is a disgrace that 1 of SF's premiere retail corridors & a major N/S bike artery continues to be a dangerous car sewer. This must change. #justaminute

Today we’re launching a live crash tracker of vehicle related injuries in NYC’s congestion pricing zone enabled by @kathyhochul’s abhorrent decision to delay the program indefinitely. Hochul's decision is an attack on NYC's most vulnerable residents.

It's really sad to see @sfstandard perpetuating a stereotype that applies to a tiny fraction of people who ride a bike in San Francisco. This kind of language incites violence against the thousands of moms & dads in SF who bike because they cannot or choose not to drive a car.

Another day, another pedestrian run down in the Tenderloin. This is our 25th traffic fatality this year. SFMTA will do a site visit to ensure the stop signs are working & then you can expect the next fatality on December 17th.

NYC is again banning cars from 5th Ave during the holidays. Last year this brought $3M in spending to the area & made it safer & healthier for millions of people. @LondonBreed A vibrant & safe @UnionSquareSF starts with banning cars not more cops.

@jeffreytumlin I make no apologies for my language. It is traumatic to witness car violence 1st hand. I've lived on Haight St. for 11 yrs, I'm car-free for 15 & ride my bike across this city daily. I am filled w/ rage at our city "leaders" who continue to put driver convenience over my safety.

TW – A cyclist was just hit by a driver whipping a K-turn on Haight St. I rushed outside to administer first aid. Cyclist has serious face/head trauma but should survive. WHEN THE FUCK IS THIS GOING TO END @jeffreytumlin !!

‘Freakish, bizarre accident’ is bullshit Nora. Richard died because @SFMTA_Muni refuses to install concrete traffic calming measures in the TL where 80-90% of residents DO NOT OWN A CAR. Post St is a 3 lane, 1 way freeway designed for speeding cars.

@SFMTA_Muni @jeffreytumlin @aeaken Crash data is critical to evaluating our progress towards VZ. Without it, we're literally flying blind. I've offered multiple times to help @SFMTA_Muni, @SFPD & @SF_DPH organize & analyze this and other VZ data and every offer has been ignored. PRR:

What's further infuriating is that this issue has been brought up multiple times by myself & other advocates at @SFMTA_Muni board hearings & yet @jeffreytumlin and @aeaken have done nothing to address it. In fact, no one on the board has even acknowledged that this is a problem.

It's now been 7 months since @SF_DPH updated SF's official #VisionZero dataset. 2 weeks ago I submitted a PRR which they just closed citing "ongoing technical issues". It is pathetic that a city "committed" to ending traffic violence can't even manage collecting data on it.

The SFFD have long fought against car-free spaces citing their potential impact on EMT response times. Instead of placing onerous requirements on merchants who want to create outdoor marketplaces, they should look into why it takes them 20-30 mins to go 3 blocks. Hint: #traffic.

What's more alarming though is that while 57% of Station 36's response times to Hayes St were < 5 mins, 13% were > 15 mins & 22 911 calls took Station 36 20 30 mins to respond to from just 3 blocks away. How can it take a fire truck with sirens blaring 30 mins to go 3 blocks?

SFFD Station 36's average response time (AVT) to those 355 calls was 6 mins & 43 seconds which is 16% better than SFFD's current citywide average of 7m 49s. However Station 36's AVT has been creeping up over the past several years as more traffic continues to clog our streets.
