if i wasn’t doing my current job and i was good at raising money, one of my dream moonshots that i think about from time to time is a research institute for foundational open source biology software, that’s not strongly attached to an existing prestigious uni/institute

I was curious how gzip compares to brotli and zstd for browser compression so I benchmarked Go libraries on a ~640kb javascript bundle for my Edna. zstd level 3 was the winner. Full results at

The new rustls blog post is pretty great. Shows how much they've been working on it, it now outpaces every other cryptography library doing TLS.

Christian Kudera has published the version 0.2.2 of SVDSuite, probably the best FOSS CMSIS-SVD parser available at this day, which support a high variety of CMSIS-SVD file structure We plan to merge SVDSuite to cmsis-svd/cmsis-svd Github repository. https://t.co/FI6qlLTHhu

SiP (System in Package) devices are going to eat the world. Amazing what you can do with them today and no design required. Integrated inductor + FETs + control in <0.5cm^2, 8A output.

I'm genuinely worried about Github Actions supply chain attacks. Turns out version pinning doesn't really work the way it might seem, which seems like a fatal flaw in the core design. You basically shouldn't use third party actions at all.

Action pinning doesn’t always offer security. Understand risks stemming from the GitHub Actions ecosystem and learn how to avoid compromise of CI/CD pipeline.

For those saying “performance might sell, but it’s expensive to deliver”—no it isn’t. Software developers today put *extra effort* into the hundreds of unnecessary layers in their code. They are paying *more* for *slower* software. Straightforward code, written with basic

Hey geeks! To bring AI into the last 100 meters of daily life, we're launching the CH570—a RISC-V 32-bit SoC with 2.4GHz wireless and USB 2.0(Host&Device). It’s an upgrade from the CH32V003, with more features at the same low price—still just about a dime(10 cents).
