I tend to agree with this. Books have been an order of magnitude deeper from my experience. When buying courses, I only trust people that actually have industry experience. If your full time job is just to create courses, that can be a red flag. (With exceptions ofc).
Most programming courses are overpriced, bad quality and made by people trying to make a quick buck. On the other hand, programming books have literally been life-changing for me. Some of them are the highest-quality educational literature on code I've ever encountered.

My strategy from the Brazilian streets: have a backup phone at home with your important banking stuff you only use at home. The “street” phone has the apps that can be stolen, including a neobank account you only use for spare/daily cash. I’m a bit paranoid and have 2 backups.
You would think it does not happen to you, but having seen this in London happen got a quite security savvy acquaintance I'm no longer sure. Most banking apps on phones are protected by just the phone's PIN, and if someone sees you enter the pin you lost.

This is exactly how I think engineers should operate. I’m still deeply interested on the tech aspects, but I’m more interested in pushing the bis forward. Tech is the channel I use to make this happen. Good comms is so important for senior devs.
2 minute rant about how senior engineers should care more about the construction of the business than the implementation du jour

An official language server for Elixir is going to be one of the killer missing “official” language features! 👏.Having stable and reliable autocomplete and refactoring tools in my editors is one of the biggest issues I have with Elixir and I’m glad this is going to be fixed 🎉.
Please welcome Elixir's official Language Server team: @icecreamcohen (Lexical), @mitchhanberg (NextLS), and @lukaszsamson (ElixirLS) team up to provide a unified language server platform. Read all about it here:
