I was just remembering how Saddam Hussein had himself memorialized on a coin....

I like to play in the galleries when they’re empty in the summer. Here’s an improvisation on Thomas Tallis’ famous tune of 1567, a setting of the beginning of the second Psalm: “Why do the nation’s rage….” https://t.co/RWwGy5fd4G #improvisation #tinwhistle #Thomastallis

Lasercut woodtype. Typefaces found and in some cases redrawn to match my great great grandfather’s letterpress printed farm sale bill from 1900. “Some with pigs.” #woodtype

Yesterday we cut the walls into smaller pieces and added a final stencil based on the “Christ in the Rubble” images shared by @MuntherIsaac. I love how the baby Jesus emerges from the cacophony of marks. #graffiti #salaam #peace #shalom

Community art project at this past Saturday’s Make Music Wheaton fest. We invited those gathered to add their own marks, hopes and frustrations as graffiti to panels we prepared to look like El Muro (the southern border wall) and the Apartheid Wall across Palestine. #graffiti

I don’t always wear jewelry, but when I do, I like to match the art in the gallery. At the commencement show wearing a Charity Lurvey pin. @WheatonCollege

Unfortunately bad kerning on Pope Francis' gravestone. Looks like the designer basically measured the space between the extreme edges of the letters rather than account for each letter's distinct shape. I did a very quick fix (tricky from this oblique angle). #kerning #typography

One of my design heroes, the extraordinary Woody Pirtle, has passed on. His posters were visually arresting, but also effected change for good; always spoke with exceptional clarity, even when they were full of whimsy. I made a silly rebus in his memory. #WoodyPirtle

Designed a template to be lasercut as a box to hold students’ final projects: Risograph printed zines. Each student will get a copy of the ’library’ to fold / assemble which holds all of the zines.

End of semester risograph printed and lasercut experiments with my students @WheatonCollege. Milton Glaser’s Baby Teeth is particularly suited to the laser. #miltonglaser #artatwheaton #babyteeth #risograph #typography #lasercut

A recording I made back in the early days of covid, which I was reminded of as we sang it again this morning. Doris Akers’ classic gospel song: Lead Me, Guide Me. My voice extra quavery as I sped the video up a bit. #gospel #dorisakers #leadmeguideme #solopiano
