On this day in 1916, Ota Benga, an African native who suffered inhumane treatment by being kept in a zoo, committed suicide.
He had been kidnapped in 1904 from Congo, and taken to America and exhibited at the Bronx Zoo with monkeys.

I found out yesterday it’s all a scam. Uber and bolt drives cancel…. The algorithm reports that it’s a busy area/demand is high. More cars need to come. They add a surcharge. The driver then accepts the ride at the inflated price. Happened to me yesterday at 10pm in a quiet area

My first home was 15 Franborough way, North Peckham estate. It shaped so much of who I am. The flat and the road doesn’t exist anymore, it got demolished when they got rid of the estate. But it’s still alive in my work and that’s one of the best things about my job.
