In this print, soldiers who guard the Bank march two abreast, trampling the public along the way. Complaints against the Bank Picquet in 1787 eventually led to the guards marching in single file.

This rather lovely Roman mosaic was uncovered during Herbert Baker's rebuilding of the Bank in the 1920s. It was discovered 25 feet below present street level, and was likely a floor mosaic in a Roman villa located on the banks of the River Walbrook.

The back of the note focuses on Sir John Houblon, the Bank's first Governor. Above his portrait is his family shield which shows hops, a reference to his last name. The double monogram on the left hand side is for William III and Mary II, the monarchs when the Bank was founded.

These drawings are for an unissued Β£1 banknote designed by Kruger Gray. The front of the note has everything from swords to heraldic shields. The best detail, however, is the needle and thread piercing the Britannia, a reference to the Bank's headquarters on Threadneedle Street.
