I rewatched Alex Eala's match with Muchova. The Czech was in a zone that never allowed Alex to get a rhythm and exploited Alex's weaknesses, particularly the serve. This was a Top 10 player that Alex faced.

Tale of two problems for Alex Eala. First set, she was too tight and none of her strongest strokes were working. Second set, her serve was gone. But she started playing more freely in the latter half, especially as her bh started working.

This is the alex Eala of the first Gauff meeting and Noskova. Overthinking. No rhythm. No confidence.

The serve is holding. But Alex Eala's normally deadly forehand is inconsistent.

Alex Eala losing at the critical points. She's been very tight, just like her last match.

I thought Alex Eala would be in the 70 or so range once she loses Miami points. But she's high 40s, so really good. I hope she gets into the low 30s again for Wimbledon, with a bit more success in clay and grass. But for now, it's Miami!

In the meantime, Noskova played her game very, very well. She won this fair and square over Alex. Alex had no serve against Noskova, who came prepared.

Story of the match between Eala and Noskova. Fantastic returns by Noskova of an ineffective Eala serve, both in terms of percentage and power. And then Alex lost her confidence from there.
