We’ve been trying to expose the world to chain-based, cryptographically provable information for years now. Blockring is the technology that integrates self-authentication with the **current** technological world. Blockring is the breakthrough.

Unfortunately, the “network” part of blockchain is one of its biggest drawbacks to lower-level retail AND major corporations. For retail, using blockring is just like using a simple text file. For corporations, mining blockring is more like manufacturing a product.

New infographic to help you understand #Blockchain vs #Blockring Why blockring? Notice the locations of the Big Red Diamond on each half. Blockring bakes the immutability directly into the data itself, meaning it can be transferred on any network!

How does Blockring & Self-Auth Data fix this? A public certificate stored in a blockring would be independently verifiable by the end-user on their own system This means no dependency on an external connection to check & verify No possibility of “man in the middle” attack 👍

When reading the certificate, how do you know it hasn’t been tampered with? You ping an external server (certificate authority) to check and make sure. This leads to the possibility of a “man in the middle” attack that can trick users into accepting an invalid certificate 👎

What is self-authenticating data? In simplest terms, it is data that contains all information necessary to verify itself. Example: HTTPS and web certificates. The certificate proves that you are browsing the correct site, and shows the green lock 🔒 on your browser 🧵👇

This means: phone-to-phone comms with no internet link or satellite required. Info can be minted by Wiki into self-auth data, then hop from user to user until it disseminates across the world. No internet connection required to verify that the information is sound!

My favorite thing about blockring and self-auth data is that I see big problems that can now be solved. Example: Peer to peer trusted information sharing With self-auth data we could create a purely local p2p network (even using Bluetooth) to share info across the world. 🧵
