Today, we pause to remember Mark Urban, a Great Basin Smokejumper, who lost his life in a smokejumping accident near Prairie, ID on 09/27/13. Mark served as a jumper for 11 years & his positive impact on the fire community continues to inspire firefighters today. #NeverForgotten

National Fire News: 09/19. 12,397 wildland firefighters and support personnel are assigned incidents across the country. Today there are 41 large fires that have burned more than 470,000 acres. The highest number of large incidents are in Oregon and California.
