We're saddened that this incident occurred at our first IRL event, putting those present at harm. We want to acknowledge the sensitivity of this incident taking place during Black History Month at a black femme led and organized event.

Attendees were quickly affected by the pepper spray and exhibited symptoms typical of exposure to the weapon, including coughing, shortness of breath, and eye irritation.

On February 3, 2022 around 1:30 am, the a^3 ascension portal at NOWADAYS which included performances by La Duni, cry$cross, SCRAAATCH, SaliYah, and Lamb was interrupted by an unknown person(s) setting off pepper bombs inside the venue which cut the night short.

We cherish any opportunity to build community through art and nightlife, and while we were deeply honored to celebrate our forthcoming exhibition and our outstanding performers at NOWADAYS, we’re extremely devastated to share that our party had to come to an abrupt end.
