We often hear that fear of failure can help to energize actions, motivation, and performance of athletes. My doctoral student (Laurence Boileau) put this idea to the test with a new concept called Fear of Failure as Motivation. 50 copies freely available

In her book, Dweck claimed that perfectionists have a fixed mindset, but studies showed a link with a growth mindset. When we separate excellencism and perfectionism, it turns out that Dweck was right. Keeping excellencism out of perfectionism reveals what perfectionism is about.

For long, research on perfectionism did not separate #excellencism and perfectionism. There is now growing theoretical and research evidence to back up the points raised in this New York Time paper. https://t.co/yZz3eo7xUv https://t.co/HyACYKdrZ3 https://t.co/4CcfZVQXjO

Excellence is not perfection or winning at all costs. It is a deeply satisfying process of becoming the best performer — and person — you can be. The Olympics show us what actual excellence is, instead of the Instagramified version we so often see: https://t.co/bgx4HcoQ6c

This is our fourth and final sports card. We had to design it to look like a classic baseball card, in honour of the biggest baseball fan I know @GaudreauUOttawa

Here’s our second sports card showing the main conclusion from 3 pre-registered studies. Also pictured is one of the best basketball players of all time (but maybe not one of the best rappers).
