I was honoured to be one of the 100 women. The Special Guest of Honour at the event, which took place in Lagos, was HE Mutale Nalumango, Vice-President of Zambia, and I was delighted to receive my award from her.

The Maputo Protocol guarantees comprehensive rights to women, including the right to take part in political processes, to social and political equality, improved autonomy in their reproductive health decisions, and an end to harmful traditional practices.

In July 2003, the Protocol on Women’s Rights to the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights was adopted by African Heads of State in Maputo, Mozambique. This document is famously known as the ‘Maputo Protocol’.

The theme for this year was ‘Living the Dream’ and I was asked to moderate the opening plenary. The conference sessions covered personal ethics, leadership case studies, financial literacy, legacy building, entrepreneurship and other important topics.

I attended this year’s International Women’s Leadership Conference in Dubai. This is an annual conference that started in 2022, and is convened by a dear sister and friend, Mrs @IbukunAwosika.
