Asked this question this morning and got this answer: “Children are not grumpy like adults.” Kinda true and made me giggle!

Starting the year with a focus on #ATLSkills #CommunicationSkills - Students made small presentations about choices they make based on our #WWA unit and were assessed by peers, their teacher, and themselves - shared with parents. #HumanSkills @FISSharks

One of my colleagues created this amazing camp fire for their early years summer school class. I wish I didn’t have to teach today so I could join! @FISSharks

Learning about #Space through a #RolePlay #Gamified adventure! Ss learned how Earth's movement & position affect life on Earth. Passed a @quizizz to show their knowledge. Earned pilot wings on a fun & silly adventure, writing in a journal to develop writing skills. @FISSharks

Developing #ATLSkills by teaching & assessing in 1 unit, then practicing in next, while focusing on a diff one. Practicing #ResearchSkills from last unit & teaching & assessing #CommunicationSkills now. Students research a change maker, then present by being the person.@FISSharks

I read a book to G1 for their unit and received individual written thank you notes (which were so cute) and chocolate. @jeni_leich is really teaching these kids some valuable lessons on how to express gratitude. @FISSharks

The #gamified #multiplication & #division unit really motivated students to learn their facts and support each other in the process! @FISSharks

We recently did the #saidisdead lesson, "killing" the word "said" so students learn about synonyms and use different words in their writing. One student asked me today if it was really dead. He wondered if it was dead all over the world or just in Japan. Maybe I oversold it...

Started our #gamified mult & div unit. Ss work as a class team to earn points & get prizes like class games, free time in class, outside play, etc... every 50 points. Motivating learning and also encouraging the class to support and help each other learn! @FISSharks

Could you go 24 hrs without #digitaltools like a computer, phone, tablet, smartwatch, etc.? We'll be doing #Digifam (digital famine) in G3 for our #HWOO unit at school & at home. Asking parents to join too while their kids are home at night. Fun, challenging, or both? @FISSharks

I love having a big #Whiteboard to collect and show the information we are learning during the unit. @FISSharks

Been letting students #selfassess on the #Math standards. It's been successful in making #learningvisible & clear to students. They assess after the pre-assessment & re-evaluate after each topic has been taught. It also helps me see who feels they need help & support. @FISSharks

We have been talking about and developing dispositions each week using the #LearnerProfile. This week we made goals to be more balanced. At the end of the week, we will reflect on how we went. How balanced do you think you are? @FISSharks

We have been continuing to learn about and unpack the #ATLSkills #SocialSkills with some lessons on #RespectingOthers, #SelfControl, #AcceptingResponsibility, #ResolvingConflict, and #GroupDecisions. Next more group tasks to practice them in action! @FISSharks

We are focusing on #SocialSkills during this unit, so after each group task, students complete this sheet to discuss and analyze how they worked together. They then choose 1 thing they did well and 1 area to develop for the next group task. #ATLSkills #HumanSkills @FISSharks

Students are working out what they want to do for #iTime this year. So far we have some design & slime businesses, learning/performing magic, & creating games in in #Scratch. It is a great start and I'm looking forward to what they explore, create, and do this year! @FISSharks

We're deepening & developing our literacy this year, especially in writing. We started the year with a fun adjectives activity - students drew monsters & then another student wrote sentences about them with adjectives! It was a fun way to practice using adjectives. @FISSharks

In order to learn more about #DiceRolePlay as my summer PD I created a game for my own kids with a mystery, a rescue adventure, combat, & magic. Thanks to @ColinDonelle & @wecanbeawesome for the help! Can't wait to play it with them & learn more about #gamification for school
