As a head coach now in my 20th year, the one constant has been that players who love spending time in this room are the same ones that I trust the most on the field. Work ethic, toughness, overcoming adversity, earning respect of your teammates, etc. are all built in this room.

I’m just a HS coach that doesn’t know much, but if I was ever a college recruiter I would go all in on tough kids that compete. I see a lot of soft kids that are good in a showcase format getting offers but others that you will win with don’t.

I shouldn’t be surprised by anything as long as I’ve been a coach, but when a parent questions a coaches wife about a decision the coach made is an all new low. Leave our dang families alone. They sacrifice enough without having to deal with that crap

Such a revealing look into the life of a coach. We make choices that will be second guessed by everybody. Sometimes they work out. Sometimes they don’t. And when we leave the field we are husbands and fathers like everybody else.
