Today, BBC Radio 4 Extra begins a starry eight-part serial of Barbara Taylor Bradford's The Women in his Life, the first of her epic family sagas to be released for radio. Ep one is at 6am, 11am and 5pm, and it continues daily except for the weekends. https://t.co/K9U8IyxuHU

When I get up and leave the family circle and steal into the world that's yet to be, what kind of Christmasses shall I fashion in place of those which once were made for me? Those lines have haunted me since my school days. @rrfeathers if you see this, please get in touch.

Is anyone else using @Plusnet to access Usenet newsgroups? Both yesterday and today it's been very patchy: short intervals where all was OK and much longer ones with no connection. Currently (7.23 pm on Sunday 24th November) it's down: but is it just me? Thanks.

I've just heard the sad news that Timothy West has died; he was 90. I worked with him several times and it was always a pleasure: he was a gentleman and a true professional. Sincere condolences to his wife Prunella Scales and all the family.

I have to confess to being quietly pleased by this: the Telegraph newspaper's ranking of the best Sherlock Holmes pastiches in every medium. Billy Wilder's The Private Life gets the top slot but the entry at number two came as a surprise. https://t.co/LyLUyLe0Ff

I've just heard the news of David Stuart Davies' death. We'd been friends since the earliest days of the BBC complete canon project when I set up a studio visit for him, and he was an enthusiastic supporter and champion of the show. Sincere condolences to Kathryn.
