1/2 We once took a call to Childline in the middle of the night from a girl who couldn’t sleep. She said she missed her mum. Who was in hospital with cancer. The counsellor (Elaine) asked her how her mum used to help her get to sleep. She said she’d sing ‘you are my sunshine’.

Spent the day with this pretty amazing charity. A privilege to hear about their work. My third year in a row working on their annual campaign. A genuine highlight of my career to work with such passionate, caring and brave people. Diolch.
🥰😊 Daniella just loved tickle time with carer Manon during a sensory play session at Tŷ Gobaith. For children like Daniella these specialist play sessions run by our expert teams provide so many benefits they would often miss out on without our hospices 💕

To be clear. I’ve had periods over the last year where it’s felt scary being Jewish. It’s often all you think about, you second guess mass gatherings. It takes a toll. This seems far more threatening. Outright Islamophobia, racism, aggression, even arson to people of colour.

“EDL turned up in my town, I was worried they’d notice the synagogue / church etc…”. Can you even imagine the sentence? . Petrifying. We’ve got a lot of work to do to help people feel safe again. I’m here for it. Solidarity ✊.
Checked in with a friend, here’s some of the reply:. “ …EDL turned up in my town on Saturday looking to cause trouble, police done a great job controlling them. We were worried they might attack our mosque…thankfully they didn’t come past it…wouldve created a lot of tension.”.

Last week I learnt the phrase:. “There’s nothing sudden about a heart attack, it’s 30 years in the making.”. Well there’s nothing sudden about these riots. They’re many years in the making. Focus on what unites us. Please support your Muslim friends. They’ll need it.
