Related to last tweet, I'm still largely staying off Twitter. The blurry shit starts coming into focus, taking shape, after several days. Get off of here, you.

There's this song, this video that I played for my wife -- more than a decade ago. She began crying almost instantly and we needed to stop it. I had no idea it was sad to her, but I think about it sometimes. Parts of our youth, we lose them and we'll never get them back.

Gonna take a break from this universe; I kinda need a break. Not blaming anyone or anything but on the whole it's been a net-negative for me whenever I'm on here lately. Be human and be kind to each other pls. Hopefully I'll be out somewhere getting centered. ☮️

Lots of helpful folks on this thread which is great; however I think Emma's point isn't that she can't do it, it's that it should be easy. Friction on the onramp is the number one deterrent for any SaaS service.
Am I the only one confused AF about what Mastodon is and how to use it? Why is signing up so confusing?? Tbh that alone deters me from creating an account.

In all seriousness -- except for folks I've been following all along -- I don't understand which accounts are real or not anymore.

Taking my son to have his braces off today. This is something my family couldn't afford growing up. I'm proud of my f**ed up teeth; they are a sign of where I came from. But also: I'm thankful for the embarrassment, unwanted advice and attention he'll never know.

So many covers of Hallelujah that I got sick of hearing it. By accident I came upon the Buckley version today. Hearing that again was like the dawn breaking after a long night, let me tell you.

Ok I feel old now. This is every album I bought in high school. There was no way of hearing the music otherwise.

My partner pulled off the most wholesome, archaeologically adjacent, bamboozling act of kindness and I had to share it. 🧵 When I was in Rome this summer, somehow my trowel ended up in my carry-on. I was mortified when it was discovered in the TSA line, because I knew (1/?)

Beyond ad blockers, there's a world of possible browser tools to empower users: combatting dark patterns, manipulative algorithmic recommendations, deceptive political emails… I think technologists have a moral obligation to build such tools even without clear business models.

I clicked on a couple articles when the Slap happened at the Oscars, without incognito on, and now I get all the latest on it. Looking forward to the then vs now stuff coming out in 2025 or so.

There are things that no one talks about after leaving a toxic workplace or toxic team 🧵. -the period of decompression you go through -the bad habits you have to unlearn -the closure that you never get 1/3

At my lowest depths early in '22, I prayed for hope. That's truly what I needed to get through that time. Shout out to everyone out there in need of hope; even a glimmer is powerful.

There are so many buttons I have never clicked because I don't know what they do. Sounds very logical, except I suspect that's not the user experience that was imagined when changes were made + shipped. This is a pattern that's been showing up more and more.
