Ironically Aaron Goodwin was also the agent for Gary Payton when he got traded to… the Bucks. The Glove was my favourite player at the time and @Dame_Lillard is my favourite player now. The more things change…..

The memories that Dame has provided over the past decade are priceless. There will be other great players rise up in Portland, but there will never be another Damian Lillard.

I truly believed Dame would be a Blazer for life. It just seemed right. It was frustrating that Portland never got Dame proper help and losing in the playoffs every year was obviously hard, but for me life is about the moments enjoyed on the way to the destination.

With one shot, Dame made things right. Nothing in 40 years of watching sport has come close to the feeling I got from watching that shot drop in, the wave goodbye and the iconic look on Dames face as his teammates jumped on him to celebrate.

Watching Dame send Hou home in the 2014 playoffs was unforgettable. And him destroying OKC’s hopes in 2019 was sporting perfection. A moment that was every bit as sweet as a championship for me. Russ was my least favourite NBA player and OKC obviously stole my beloved Sonics.

I watched him hit game winner after game winner, show elite leadership and become a superstar. The Blazers were never title favourites but I always felt like they had a chance to do something crazy with Dame leading the way.

Over the next few years I began to realise this Lillard guy was different. I was self employed at this time and my mornings consisted of watching Portland play. Work could wait till the afternoon.

I watched as Damian Lillard won the summer league MVP and was impressed with his poise and confidence as a rookie. It didn’t take long for me to have a new favourite player and be all in on the Blazers.
