The coupling components are all 3D printed, and I designed the mount to fit around the 100Whr batteries that I use to power my Burning Man bike. I also designed and printed a custom flight case for it!

The brains of the totem is an ESP32 that has a microphone attached, which analyses the ambient sound to perform beat detection and analyze musical energy level. It connects to my phone via Bluetooth so I can change the shaders and servo speeds.

I put a technical writeup about the totem on my blog: Each aluminum ring is connected on one side by a servo which spins the ring inside it, and on the other side by an electrical slip ring that passes power and data signals through.
